Great teachers are better observers than they are teachers. Teaching is, in some ways, a myth. The greatest skill is learned, more than it is taught. And the great teacher realizes this. The great teacher introduces the student to a concept and allows him to make acquaintance with it. He leads him into the room and allows him to have a look around. Given the appropriate freedom, the student ambles through the room, visiting the corners and the layout. His brain develops a feel for the boundaries of the room and how to move within it without bumping into walls. With time, the student learns to live within the room and breathe its unique fragrance. Eventually, the room becomes home. This is the way in which skill is developed.Unfortunately, the vast majority of the instruction that prevails across the world consists of leading the student by the hand. Pulling him into the room. Taking him to each part of the room and defining its characteristics. Showing him how to walk within the room. Demonstrating for him the length of the stride and the speed of the walk. The student is instructed to memorize the information and repeat it for the teacher. There is a huge problem with this approach. In memorizing the information, the student’s attention is on the information, rather than its relevance. His focus is on the form, rather than its place within the movement. In memorizing, he ceases to learn. In following, he loses his way.The great teacher searches not for the perfect time to teach, but for the perfect time to retreat. Every now and again, he will reappear, not so much to instruct, but to enhance the student’s understanding. For he realizes that the student’s progress, or lack thereof, does not so much depend upon his mastery of the motion, but on the mastery of his understanding of the concept behind the motion. As the student’s understanding is refined, his motion progresses. The great teacher is, therefore, a third wheel, so to speak. If he fears anything, it is saying too much. If he detests anything, it is standing in the way between the student and the concept. The great teacher understands that it is only once the student makes something his very own, will he attain mastery of it. In making it his own, he transcends instruction. His skill becomes an inseparable part of him.
Learning begins when teaching stops.
The great teacher realizes this.
If only we had more of them in the world.
For this is who Siddha Performance caters to.
Siddha Performance was created EXCLUSIVELY for world class professional athletes. In order to reveal The Truths to those RARE ATHLETES who seek to become LEGENDS in their Sport. And who seek to attain BLISS in their Lives.

Great Teachers Are Hesitant To Teach

2. Which the mission of the Filippos F.C. Skills Academy?

Even the name-Filippos Skills Academy shows the philosophy of our school which is based on the technical development of players,of course without empasize only in this.We match technical and tactical development. The target of our school is right education, entertainment and personal development of children,so that we can create   players with initiative, initiative, confidence and creativity. It doesn't matter to us how many games we win,but how many children we will inspire so they will love football and stay in sport for ''why not'' all their life.

In our school there is specific philosophy.Children first learn to love football,to have fun and afterward to learn correct and attacking football. In the past there was an excellent''street school''on every corner of the street where young people were free to play and develop. So create situations that bring youth players as close as possible to street soccer. We believe that the individual should serve the team and the team should serve the individuals. For this we use the following rule : The team training session (cooperation)helps the individual to develop the collective.Interaction of guidelines :  1.Personality development  2.Individual development  3.Systematic development

4.How is the economic situation of football in Greece? How do you manage it and balance it with your players and coaches?

The economic crisis in Greece has not left unaffected  sport  and  particularly football .Many parents find it  difficult to settle  the  financial  contributions  of their children .Of course they are trying to save money to provide their children

The Greek Football Federation organizes  since  2003  the football  coaches schools under the auspices of UEFA. Within the defined objectives is to provide knowledge about coaching in the developmental  ages .  At the same time , the education council has created a practice guide aims to present the context  of a long train programming HOW, WHAT and WHEN training. Categories of football coaches in Greece are:  UEFA C, UEFA FUTSAL B, UEFA Goalkeeping A, UEFA ELITE YOUTH A, UEFA FOOTBALL FITNESS, UEFA-B, UEFA-A and UEFA-PRO. The football coaches have the right to practice their profession according to their category, as follows: 1. Super League -Football League: UEFA-PRO. Assistant Coach: Certificate UEFA-A least 2.K-20 Super League-Football League: UEFA-A or UEFA ELITE YOUTH A. Assistant Coach:Certificate  UEFA -B least 3.   In our school, the coaches  licences are UEFA B  -UEFA C.  Of course we try to enrich  our knowledge  with courses from different European countries. Also, our coaches  have  attended  seminars of   first aid  to be able to provide medical care, whenever necessary (Sports on field trauma emergency S .O.F.T. E. course)Usually we suggest to attend seminars by the Dutch school, whenever possible, of course.Currently we have five coaches for 100 children in our school and each group has: 8 children -U6 children 8-12 U10 and children 8-14 U16U12.

6. Which are the international teaching  and  training methodologies do you know better  and  use  most ? And why? Do you have your one as Filippos F.C.?Can you explain it us? Expecially for your youth academy .......... What  do  you think about  Coerver Coaching.,Horst Wein or dutch methodologies for youth training?

The methodologies  in the world are many.Other are based on the technical development  and other on  the tactical. We have  studied  many of theese such as :    Barcelona  philosophy - johan Cruyff  philosophy  -  KNVB Zeister  Vision  Horst Wein  -  Wiel Coerver method  - Peter Schreiner system etc.The methodology  has  given  me  vision  is by Wiel Coerver. Because dominates  the exercises  of  the  technical  development  of players. The Coerver  Method  focuses on individual  skill  progression ,  and   the   development  of   tactical   awareness through  drills  carried out in small groups. Its commanding philosophy is one of control over  the  ball, and  it was  developed  through  Coerver  analysing  hour upon  hour  of  footage  of  some  of the game's greatest ever players.  Pele was known  to be  a  particular  inspiration,  and  through  immersing himself  in his project, Coerver came to believe that incredible skill was not simply innate,  but could be taught. In  our  school  of  course does not focus  only  on exercises of “the Albert Einstein of football” Wiel Coerver we try to see its needs modern football and we have our own  philosophy.          I  also believe we should spend more time on technique training,  without changing  course  entirely  by  solely  focusing on technique training.  Our training  need  to  have  these  PDE  factors   ( perception,  decision  -  making   and execution )  for learning to take place . Our philosophy is precise and starts when a child  comes to us from   4   years  up  to the age of  16  years. All  coaches work at our School philosophy taught  by  director       : ''Τechnique  is the basis of everything'   ................. Without technique there  is no tactic.  The individual development must dominate. Our philosophy is:
1. Creating stronger individuals 2. Creating stronger cooperations 3. Creating stronger team.
DEVELOPMENT 5 STAGES :     1. Μaster the ball     2. Dominate opponent     3. Right decisions     4. Game development     5. Imagination – Initiative- Creativity
Everything is about  the players, they must solves problems by means of their own insight  and  creativity . Players  must take  the  initiative,  demand the ball and create personality. Let's get  the  balance right  and  encourage  freedom of play and developme- nt as much as possible with guidance helping young play- ers individually on becoming the  best  they can be.  Without  technique there is no tactic.   “We  want  to  educate dynamic, creative  and unpredictable players. Players  who can  (technically)  maintain themselves  on  the ball in every game situation and continuously create better  situation for themselves and their and their  teammates. Every time  they receive  the  ball they create  space  to  shift the  play, thanks to their amazing feel for the ball.”   We are the only school currently in the region of Thessaloniki we do skills training in developmental ages methodically.I believe in the methodology  of Wiel but I think that needs some additions,to create high-level players. I have spent many hours in the analysis of  Wiel  Coerver  methodology and I  have  come  in contact  with people who have  been taught  by him and have worked with him. My target is to contin - ue and to evolve  this great  methodology. "I learned to play on the  street, in  the  yard, which is how to  learn  to play football. "-Pele      I  believe  it  is  the  coach's  role  to find the  right balance for the individual young player  between  α) natural game play  self discovery  and   β) advancing technique  improvement.  There  are  two  main  methods   to  coaching   young players in this. a)The first is the demonstration of the technique and the player follows.Coach- es need to be proficient in the technique to gain succesful results. b)The second method is allowing the player to mentally create themselves how best  to improve  the  technique with  some  open  questions  by the coach. This coaching technique is beautiful but is only realistic when the player has a Grasp of the technique and is now improving it.   Let's get the balance right and encourage freedom of play and development as much as possible with guidance helping young players individually on becoming the best they can be.

7.How many children you have and how do you organize they by age?

Our school currently has 100 children in parts : prebambini  - bambini -  prejunior-junior-U12 and are separated by age.Children are separated based on capacity. The program is  determined by the director of the  school  according to their age and level  of players.Ιt's  weekly and the point is  individual  skills and team development. We use motivation for children to participate in training and motivation to work at home. The trainings is three times a week and the time limit is determined by their age and weekend there are games
.
8.What kind of training session are you use to purpose during the week? What kind of training session do you purpose by age? What kind of warm ups technical and tactical exercises by age?

Each week the training  has a theme. It starts with warming up and fun warm-up games -ball feeling and fast footwork exercise. Then we have movements 1vs1 with passive defense and with active defense.Passing  receiving combined with 1vs1 and many exercises with rondos. They always end  training with small sided games. We start every training session in which we can perfect the technical coordination.I never  use cones,as resistance, this is always done by players Depending on the level of children  determined  and  the  exercises, from easy to difficult-simple to complex and general to specific.

9.Please explain us how your training center is planned and organized?

The Sports training center is located ThermiThessaloniki. It contains a football stadium (11x11), 2 football pitches(5x5) and 1 football pitch(7x7).We have the following training equipment: speed ladders, cones, speed hurdles,First Aid Kit,Balls size 3-4-5,target cones, markers, mini Bazooka goals, flat goals..etc.

10.What kind of exercise do you use most?

Our main goal is for players to acquire fullskills , so we focus most on exercises that improve technique and release the children's mind.We work A lot of drills, dribbling and feints, but the central term is ball control. We want to educate, creative and unpredictable players. Players like  Zidane,Messi, Robben Maradonna,Pele. Every time they receive the ball they create space. Many drills aim at the development of the technical skills of young players.

                                                                         Director
                                                                Foundas Konstantinos
                                                            Filippos F.C.Skills Academy

''ΑΦΗΣΤΕ ΤΟ ΠΑΙΧΝΙΔΙ ΝΑ ΕΙΝΑΙ Ο ΔΑΣΚΑΛΟΣ''

  Είναι  σωστό να αφήνουμε τα παιδιά να μάθουν μέσα από το παιχνίδι και ο προπονητής δεν θα πρέπει να διορθώνει και να λέει στα παιδιά πως θα παίξουν;
ση του ο παίκτης να καθοδηγείται....:<<πάσαρε...σούταρε...διώξε...τι σου έχω μάθει..;..κ.λ.π>>,όχι μόνο στις προπονήσεις,αλλά και στούς αγώνες.Τελικά είναι σωστό ή όχι;Να καθοδηγείται ο παίκτης ή απλά να αφήνουμε το παιχνίδι να είναι ο δάσκαλος του;

No Tactics Until 13?

No Tactics Until 13? Nonsense.

One of the most misunderstood and pervasive statements within youth development is the idea of “no tactics until 13” when teaching or coaching. It’s an idea that might be born out of good reasoning when put into context, but the issue remains that when coaches hear this they inevitably take this mantra to the utmost and treat it as dogma.
No tactics until 13 is just plain incorrect because it misunderstands what tactics mean as well as the necessary, important development process for young players.
No tactics until 13 may stem from the idea that 8 year old’s should not be taught how to play out of the back in a 4-3-3. There are much more important things to learn at that age, but the statement still remains, “No tactics until 13.” What does that mean then? To the average coach who is beginning to learn the game it acts as one of the most dangerously misleading sign-posts for someone who needs guidance and help as they develop. It’s too vague, it’s too ambiguous, because ultimately tactics are the foundation upon which technique is applied or executed correctly. Every action should have a thought behind it and at any age we should encourage decision-making skills.
index
Let’s look at what exactly tactics mean and then examine the issue that many players face at the older ages because of this pervasive mantra.
Various people will define tactics within soccer differently. Claudio Reyna through the USSF defines tactics as: “Individual or collective actions performed by a player or group of players to take advantage of an opponent, group of opponents or a team.
Explanation: The tactics are the tools to develop the strategy.
Example: Quick transition of the ball from one side of the field to the other.”
Another definition from the USSF via an E license manual defines tactics as : “the where, when, and why of soccer. Soccer is a team sport that allows each player to impose their personality into the game. The free flowing characteristics of soccer provides players numerous opportunities to make instant decisions while attacking or defending.”
Inevitably, however you want to define tactics, it requires players to be decision-makers. Tactics are everywhere. Tactics are in everything we do. Decision-making is a skill that can be enhanced or shunned depending on the coaching of the activity and every activity, whether a U7 session or a U18 session must contain decision-making (aka tactics) in the activities.
Every technique you work with your players on should have a tactical application behind it. If you’re working with 6 and 7 year old’s on dribbling and running with the ball, there must be a thought process there. “If I have the ball, do I want to kick it or control it?” More importantly perhaps, “When I have the ball with open space what do I do compared to when I have the ball but no open space?” These are tactics! When to dribble and when to pass? Tactics. When to dribble with big touches or when to dribble with small touches? Tactics. When to take a defender on or when to pass the ball to a teammate? Tactics. When, where, and why of anything with the game? Tactics.
This is not to say that the why is more important than the how at early ages. Indeed, the how to do things (the technique itself) is vastly important at the younger ages because players need to know how to do something properly before they can apply it within a certain context. A player who doesn’t know how to dribble won’t do much good even if he does know when he should dribble into open space or keep the ball in tight spaces. While technique must be constantly worked on, even at the youngest ages, there needs to be decision-making present in activities. While you may coach the technique at U8 more-so than the why or where, ONLY coaching the technique is a pitfall just as bad as ONLY coaching the tactics and disregarding the technique.
If you are running training sessions and only teaching the how, you are doing your players a disservice. The quote from Cruyff always comes to mind.
12a5501e7569ac9147ddacb695e616c9
Don’t make the mistake and think your players can’t handle these ideas. They can and will if they are asked, but if they’re constantly in an environment where they don’t have to think, they are going to regress with their problem-solving skills. At the youngest ages I focus on open space and what to do. When our team has the ball do we want to spread out or do we want to all stand around one ball? When the other team has the ball should we all back away into the goal or should we go towards the ball to try an win it nearer to the other team’s goal, and why? Young kids can and should handle these questions, but they have to be asked in the appropriate setting and manner.
As players get older, we’re still well below the age of 13, can we focus on individual principles. When I have the ball can I penetrate? If my teammate has the ball can I support them either wide, high, or deep. When I’m defending, where should I run when approaching the defender and if my teammate is defending, where should I be to offer cover. These are not difficult concepts if they are worked on correctly and in the appropriate manner. Any technical game you incorporate can involve these decisions, and here is where you are still enhancing and working on technical development but ensuring that there is a thinking-side to each activity.
Understand, it is EASY to run a session and only coach the HOW. It is easy to “let the game be the teacher” by putting on activities and telling kids to pass to teammates using the inside of the foot, or dribble using their laces or the outside of the foot. It becomes harder when you have to actively coach and help your players understand why, when, and where to use laces when dribbling compared to the outside of the foot, or why, when, and where to pass the ball with the inside of the foot as compared to just explaining how to pass properly. The former may be “coaching,” but the latter is developing soccer players.
When we begin to develop decision-makers, we can hope to avoid the pitfalls of many current young players. All too often we develop players who can do 100 tricks and flicks but can’t pass a ball properly at the right speed, time, and foot. We live in a YouTube generation where the how to do 100 skills is seen and encouraged more than the how, when, where, and why to do 1 or 2 good skills. College players are entering higher levels of play without understanding the basic principles of play, whether it be pressure, cover, and balance for defense or penetration, support, or improvisation in attack.
Any player can learn how to do a scissor past a cone, but if the player is never tested in an environment where they have to take a defender on 1v1, they aren’t going to fully understand the proper application of a scissor. How often have you seen a player do a skill move when the opposing team isn’t anywhere close! This is the problem when technical development is encouraged without any tactical development.
Here is a video presented by a professional team as “Academy Tactics: U12”
The coach is quite clear in explaining that it is a technical passing activity, but the club itself promotes this as tactics. There is little to no thought process involved, with some instructions as to back foot or hip placement but little why. Is a 1 minute clip enough context? Perhaps not, but the fact that this is considered “tactics” is scary enough.
Ultimately, the best players and coaches are in an environment that fosters thinking. Tactics are thinking, and the game without thinking is no game at all. Do yourself and your players a favor, and begin to develop players who are technically competent and comfortable thinking for themselves.

CRUYFF TEACH THE BASIC SKILLS

Cruyff :
Teach the basic skills
Cruyff 's comments :

6. AFC AJAX: 4 v 4 (+1) Corner To Corner Possession Exercise

Objective
We work on passing, moving possession play and pressing.
Description
Each team consists of 2 central players, 2 kaasters positioned in each corner diagonally opposite and we have a
central neutral playmaker. The aim is to play the ball from corner to corner, but with a minimum of 3 passes in the
central zone.
The coach can vary the speci!c outcomes (number of passes before playing the ball in to a kaaster). The coach
should concentrate on both the possession team and the 2 defender’s ability when outnumbered.
The central neutral player can be limited to 1 or 2 touch, or simply instructed to play quickly where possible (and
should be a player who demonstrates the ability to be a playmaker with his o" ball movement and high levels of
passing consistency).
Coaching Points
1. The coach can vary the number of passes required per team, the maximum number of touches per neutral or
kaaster player and number of players per team.
2. As the kaasters are instructed to act as rebound players with only 1 touch allowed, the coach is expected to
emphasise the importance of the players’ positioning to provide the kaasters with options.
